Crankworx Whistler has officially begun. I went up yesterday and got a few laps in with Martin on the Garbanzo DH course, and then went up again today with Bryden to ride it just a little more. Tomorrow is race day, and wouldn't you know it - it's supposed to rain tonight. I'm so used to wet conditions by now I wonder if I'll even notice. Actually, it is so dry and dusty up there right now that a little moisture would be perfect.
So the Garbanzo DH course is a very very long race. Usual courses - 3-5 minutes. This one is more like 15 - 20 minutes. The course is from the very top of the Garbanzo chair (the highest you can up with your bike) right down to the village at the bottom of the mountain. It's pretty difficult to do a race that long and know the entire course, so I'm not really all that concerned about knowing exactly what's coming up next or figuring out all the lines in every single section. I'd rather just have fun and consider it a very long ride where I'm not allowed to stop and have to pedal lots and feel the burn right through to the finish line... oh it'll be fun alright! :)
